Leave Your Pride at the Door

Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you,       
        who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.
They rejoice in your name all day long;       
        they exult in your righteousness.
Psalm 89:15,16

It's curious how when it comes to so many other things in life, we understand and accept that there is a learning curve but when it comes to joy, happiness and blessings we often assume it's an instant thing like morning coffee.

Although this passage is full of hope, joy and peace, there is a word that cannot be ignored and that word is 'learned.' We see here that what precedes walking in the light of His presence, rejoicing in His name all day long and exalting in His righteousness is learning to acclaim Him.

A brief definition of 'Acclaim' is: Greatly praised or lauded, revered, highly respected.

So where does that leave you and I this morning as we start our day and week? At a wonderful place to begin this week in a beautiful way, acclaiming God and enjoying the benefits that come with that.

It's not magic, God wants us to have a real relationship with Him and learn to acclaim Him that we may walk in His presence all day long.

Prayer for Today: God, as I start off this week, I will acclaim you through all things and learn how to trust you in everything and in turn rejoice in your name all day long.
